Established in the 1980s, Copperfield is a suburban neighborhood that offers plenty of open space for outdoor recreation, yet close proximity to shopping and dining. Residents also have easy access to public transportation and roads and highways leading to other parts of the city.
The neighborhood borders Hwy. I-35, as well as local thoroughfares Parmer Lane and Dessau Road, so that residents have access to northwest and downtown Austin. There is also a Park and Ride Metro Station close by.
The neighborhood itself is marked by smaller, one-story homes on wide streets lined with mature trees, abundant foliage, and well-maintained lawns and gardens.
When the neighborhood was first established in 1982, it was a quiet, secluded area with new homes. Since then, however, the area has built up, so that residents now have access to the Tech Ridge Center, a 1.3 million square foot shopping and office center, a Sears Grand, Super Target, and Super Walmart, among other shopping options.
The area is also home to many businesses and high-tech companies including Dell and Samsung. Other high tech employers in northwest Austin are not far away.
Copperfield offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Besides the green spaces in the neighborhood, the Big Walnut Creek Greenbelt and Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park are nearby. Walnut Creek Park has several miles of hiking and bike trails, a swimming pool, ball fields and courts, and an event pavilion. There are also several golf courses within easy driving distance.
