Things to do in Windsor Park, Austin
Windsor Park is an established, residential neighborhood just east of I-35. Here you’ll find many one-story ranch homes mostly built in the mid-1900s, with large lots on clean, tree-lined streets. The neighborhood borders Hwy. I-35 to the west and Hwy. 290 to the north, so residents have access to other parts of the city.
The neighborhood has a close-knit community with an active neighborhood association. Although some sections have fallen into disrepair, for the most part residents take pride in their neighborhood, and houses are well-maintained. The neighborhood is relatively safe for an urban location.
There are several major parks in the area, including Bartholomew District Park just to the south, which has ball fields, BBQ grills, picnic tables, a splash area, and playscape. There is also a private school and library in the neighborhood, and public schools close by.
Although some of the neighborhood’s original residents still live here, younger singles and families have also moved in, attracted by the affordable housing, neighborhood character, and relatively convenient location. The neighborhood population is a mix of ethnicities, with about half Caucasians, a little less than half Mexicans, and the remainder African American and Asian.
